Leaf blowers have the shortest selling window of any garden tool. In most northern-hemisphere markets, demand is concentrated into six to eight autumn weeks, and stock that arrives late is stock that gets discounted in January. Planning backwards from that window is the whole job.
Work backwards from the season
If the selling window opens in September, the container needs to be in your warehouse by August. That means production in June or July, which means the order is placed in April or May — before most buyers have started thinking about autumn.
| Month | What should be happening |
|---|---|
| March–April | Range decision, specification and order placement |
| May–June | Production and pre-shipment inspection |
| July | Sea freight |
| August | Warehouse arrival, dealer allocation |
| September–November | Selling window |
Noise rules decide the range
Leaf blowers are the most regulated garden tool in many municipalities. Petrol models can be restricted by season, by time of day, or by measured noise level. A model that sells well in one city can be unsellable in the next one.
- Ask for the measured decibel figure for each model, not a range.
- Check local rules for the main cities in your territory before ordering.
- Plan battery alternatives for noise-restricted areas.
Packing volume is the hidden cost
Blowers are bulky and light, so freight is almost entirely volume-driven. Backpack models take significantly more space than handheld units, and carton design can change how many units fit in a container.
For a seasonal product with a short window, freight efficiency directly decides whether the season is profitable. Ask for units per container with the quotation, and compare on landed cost per unit rather than unit price.
Which models to stock
A practical autumn range for most markets:
- Handheld petrol — domestic gardens, driveways, the volume model.
- Backpack petrol — large properties and contractors, higher margin.
- 3-in-1 blow / vacuum / shred — sells to homeowners who want one tool for leaves and cleanup.
- Battery handheld — suburban and noise-restricted areas.
After the season
Autumn demand leaves two things behind: spare parts demand in winter and a decision about next year. Impellers, bags and throttle cables move in the months after the season, so a small spares allocation with the container pays for itself.
Frequently asked questions
When should I place the order?
Four to five months before the selling window, to allow production, freight and dealer allocation.
Backpack or handheld?
Backpack for large areas and contractor use; handheld for domestic gardens and driveways.
How is airflow measured?
We quote both mph and cubic metres per hour so models can be compared on the same basis.
Our leaf blower range covers handheld, backpack, 3-in-1 and electric models with measured noise figures. Send your quantities and destination port and we will return a loading plan with the quotation.
